The Employers Consultative Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ECA) has been appointed to serve on the next three (3)-year term of the Standing National Labour Market Council (SNLMC) of Trinidad and Tobago, 2024-2027. The ECA will be represented by Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Ramlogan.

The SNLMC, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Labour, was established with the primary role of advising the Minister of Labour on matters relevant to the efficient production, collection, analysis and dissemination of labour market information and statistics. Among other responsibilities, the SNLMC is tasked with coordinating the conduct of a skills needs analysis in priority sectors identified in the National Development Strategy 2019-2030, provide recommendations and inputs for the development of a national Labour Market Information System (LMIS), and development of a monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of the LMIS. In this regard, the work of the SNMLC is crucial for informing and enhancing multi-level and multi-sectoral decision-making and policy development.

The SNLMC will be Chaired by Ms Candace Young, Temporary Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour, and will include representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Planning and Development, Central Statistical Office, THA – Department of Labour, social partners and academia.
