 Akida Mohammed always had a passion for Industrial Relations and was fortunate to work in every stage of the IR process within Trinidad and Tobago.

From the early years when reading for her degree in Sociology and Economics she skewed all her courses to labour and industry and; complemented the theoretical studies at UWI with the practical approach at Cipriani Labour College.

Trained by ILO in:

  • Conciliation and Mediation Training
  • Training of Trainers on Conciliation and Mediation
  • Joint Union/Management Negotiation Skills
  • Facilitation of Union/Management Negotiations

Has done workshops and lectures for employers, trade unions and neutral personnel.

Have represented employers at all stages of the industrial relations process, from initiation of investigation to conclusion at the Industrial Court

  • Senior Conciliator at the Ministry of Labour - 2000-2008 – conciliating in trade disputes at all levels. Also was instrumental in piloting training for other departments.
