This programme is designed to inform and educate participants about the necessary steps that must be taken when various types of incidents occur in the workplace as well as how to write an accurate and effective incident report.

Learning Outcomes

Successful completion of this programme will increase a participant’s knowledge in the following:

  • Why Investigate: Statutory Laws and company policy
  • Advantages and disadvantages of an internal investigation
  • Who investigates the incident/complaint ( Investigating guidelines)
  • Principles of natural justice:
    • The right to a fair investigation or hearing
    • The rule against bias
  • Who writes the report and to whom it is submitted
  • Tense and terminology of the report
  • Uniformity in report
  • Submitting the report for action and follow-up
  • Supporting documents
  • Pros and cons of written reports
  • Retention of reports and records
  • Protection of data and confidentiality
